TOOELE, Utah -- A 4-year-old boy was reported kidnapped Thursday morning and Tooele police worked quickly to reunite him with his mother.
Police received a call at 5:13 a.m. from a woman who said her son had been kidnapped by 35-year-old Shawn Bergeron, with whom the woman is well-acquainted.
"There wasn't a big struggle. She did not want him to take the child. They were able to take the child against her will," said Tooele Police Lt. Paul Wimmer.
Police said Bergeron and Stephanie Goff, 22, left in a maroon Ford Thunderbird, which police had encountered earlier in the night in an unrelated "suspicious" incident.
The Thunderbird was tracked to an address on Erickson Road, where Bergeron, Goff and the boy were located.
"We resolved it peacefully. We brought the adults in for questioning, the child was reunited with his mom and we are looking to get a quick interview with the child," Wimmer said. "There were no injuries, they didn't harm the little boy. He was just scared."
Police said there was not a clear motive for the alleged kidnapping and they expect Bergeron will be booked into jail.
