SALT LAKE CITY -- Police are searching for suspects after two cars in Salt Lake City were set on fire Saturday morning.

The suspect, or suspects, poured gasoline all over two cars parked at the Raintree Apartments, 870 North and 900 West, around 3 a.m. The cars were then set on fire.

Both vehicles were similar-model Lincolns, and they both belonged to the same person.

Jasen Asay, Salt Lake City Fire Department, said they are working to find those responsible, but so far they have few leads. They don’t have surveillance video of the area, and no witnesses have come forward.

"Our investigators did talk to the vehicle owners, and he told them that he couldn't think of anybody that might be singling him out or targeting him out,” he said. “So we don't know if somebody was targeting him or if somebody was targeting the vehicles specifically."

Both cars were a total loss. Three cars parked nearby were also damaged.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at 801-799-3000.
