SOUTH SALT LAKE — A man is in extremely critical condition after he was in a freak accident on Wednesday afternoon at a railroad yard in South Salt Lake.
Gary Keller, South Salt Lake Police, said the man was an independent contractor doing work for the Union Pacific Railroad at Roper Yard. The man was operating a large rail service truck when it developed mechanical problems.
Keller said the man left the vehicle, lifted the hood and began working to fix the problem. As the man was working, the truck somehow popped into gear, moved forward and ran the man over.
The man was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition.
