Soldiers honored after service in Afghanistan

SALT LAKE CITY — Ten U.S. Army Reserve soldiers were honored on Sunday at a Welcome Home Warrior Citizen Award Ceremony after they served for nearly a year in Afghanistan.

Members of the 478th Human Resources Company were the guests of honor at a welcome home ceremony held on Sunday afternoon at Fort Douglas.

Leland Leavitt is one of the officers, and he said his soldiers preformed at a level beyond what their ranks might imply.

“My soldiers performed very flawlessly,” he said. “I came out there with the soldiers that were E3s, E4s… so privates, and specialists. And they came out there doing roles of sergeants and sergeants first class, which is really good. It shows those that we have great soldiers here in the state of Utah and the surrounding states.”
