Salt Lake County launches bike ambassador program

Posted

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah -- As the weather warms up cyclists take to the roads, and on Monday Ben McAdams, Salt Lake County mayor, launched a bicycle ambassador program.

The program is designed to increase cycling, improve and reward safe riding habits and engage with community cyclists.

Volunteers with the SLCo Bike Ambassadors will hand out educational materials and organize group rides in the community. They will also maintain bike lanes and offer personalized mentorship on bicycle commuting.

McAdams said the ambassadors will be providing a valuable service to the community.

"What we're hoping to do is to encourage people to get out, to connect with the community, and start riding bikes,” he said. “And the ambassadors will perform an important function as we help answer questions and just lead the way."
