SALT LAKE CITY – A couple and their baby were robbed at knifepoint Friday morning.

It happened at their apartment on 643 South Redwood Road. Police say three men were repeatedly knocking on the couple’s door at about 2:00 a.m. The man inside opened the door and said he was pushed against the wall by the suspects.

Officers say the suspects went to the back room where the woman and her baby were, threatened the woman with a knife, and took her cell phone and wallet. Police say this is a reminder to the public to not open doors for strangers.

“Don’t open your door. Especially late at night, that type of thing. You know, you hear a knocking like this, you don’t know who these people are. Just call 911, get the police involved as quickly as you can. Don’t open your door to anyone you don’t know ever,” said Detective Dennis Mcgowan, with Salt Lake City police.

The suspects took off in a red Chevy Impala, driving south on Redwood Road. The suspects are described as Hispanic, about five feet 10 inches tall. They were all wearing blue shirts. One of the suspects has a small tattoo under his left eye, that police say was possibly numbers.

If you have any information about the suspect, call Salt Lake City Police at 801-799-3000.
