SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Interstate 15 was closed in both directions in Utah County during a chase of a reckless driver.

The Utah Dept. of Public Safety said Monday that just after 9:15 p.m., officers received reports of a white Nissan pickup veering along the road on southbound I-15 near Lindon.

Two UHP troopers started following the truck and attempted to pull it over without success. Spikes were deployed by a trooper at 400 South in Springville and the driver stopped under the 2700 North structure in Spanish Fork.

The male passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Nicholas Gamble, was unresponsive. Officers found him passed out behind the steering wheel of his vehicle and he was arrested.

The driver appears to have been driving under the influence, DPS says. The passenger was later released without charges.
