HERRIMAN, Utah – The JL Sorenson Recreation Center in Herriman was evacuated Wednesday night after an acid spill.
Unified Fire officials say two-and-a-half gallons of acid leaked from a 50-gallon drum at the recreation center, located at 5350 West Main Street in Herriman.
The spilled acid is confined to a small area on the west side of the center and no one in the center has been exposed to the acid or reported symptoms, but the center was evacuated as a precaution.
Unified Fire hazardous materials crews are cleaning up the spill.
