OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – It’s one more reason why you shouldn’t drink and drive.

Police arrested 24-year-old Spencer Holt Saturday night after they said he broke into the Cox Convention Center, hijacked a Zamboni and took it for a spin around the ice while under the influence.

Tim Linville is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Chesapeke Energy Arena and Cox Convention Center and he said this is a very unusual crime.

“Everybody loves the Zamboni, but he’s taking it a little too far,” Linville said.

Andrew Magerkurth works at Blazers Ice Center and knows all about Zambonis.

He’s been driving them for more than 10 years.

He doesn’t suggest getting behind the wheel of any Zamboni without training and experience.

As for Holt, he didn’t get far.

“I want to really commend our security guys, because within a minute or two, they were on him and detained him until police could get here,” Linville said.

Holt damaged the Zamboni and some of the signs around the hockey rink.

Everything will be fixed in time for the next playoff game next week.

“This is why you shouldn’t drink and do things because you can mess up your life doing that stuff,” Linville said.

Holt was arrested on several charges, including destruction of private property and public drunkenness.
