A student is in custody after police say he was carrying a BB gun and drugs at Granite Peaks Alternative School Friday afternoon.
Granite School District Spokesperson Ben Horsley said the student was in custody at the administration office when he left school property.
School officials called police and the student was taken into custody 10-15 minutes later in a neighborhood. Horsley said the gun looked real and that prompted a soft lockdown of nearby schools. No students were threatened or harmed.
Horsley said the student could be expelled because having a gun is a Safe Schools violation.
