WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The search efforts for Susan Cox Powell come at a cost.

Travel to remote locations, including the search this week in Oregon, is just one of the costs. West Valley City Manager Wayne Pyle said he doesn't know the exact dollar amount that the city has spent on the Susan Cox Powell case, because it's been such a large investigation involving several agencies in the city.

"It's a very tough decision to make that kind of expenditure any time, because we always do have a shortage of resources, and prioritization of those resources but one thing that the community needs to know in order to feel safe is that we are going to follow any kind of credible lead, no matter what the investigation is," said Pyle.

Pyle said because this recent search in Scotts Mills, Oregon has lead to a dead end, activity on the case will return to what it was before, and the investigation will again be scaled back.
