SALT LAKE CITY -- Despite the rain, Utahns came together Saturday for a walk aimed at raising awareness and funds in the fight against cystic fibrosis.
Great Strides is an annual event held across the country, and hundreds of people were at the Energy Solutions Arena Saturday morning, where Utah’s walk for awareness and fundraising began.
Fox 13 News reporter Gene Kennedy has a son, Joey, with cystic fibrosis, and he and his family were at Saturday’s event.
“It does affect the child's quality of life, of course,” Kennedy said. “You're dealing with a baby who has this, as is the case with me and my wife, he doesn't understand what's happening to him, but we're really hopeful. This walk has been awesome. We've met so many families and other parents who are dealing with this. We've actually made friends with this walk.”
The Great Strides Walk is put on by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. For more information, visit their website.
