SALT LAKE CITY– The Downtown Farmers Market is preparing to celebrate 21 years of helping the community buy local.

Organizers said nearly 300 local vendors will set up shop this year, offering customers fresh fruit, vegetables and other one of a kind items.

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker said the market shows off the vibrant and lively side of Salt Lake.

“It’s a great generator of activity and gives people an opportunity to really experience Salt Lake City,” he said.

The market will officially open for summer business at Pioneer Park on Saturday, June 8. Market hours will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.
