SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to carry out a robbery with a knife.

Police said the suspect entered a residence near 1300 East and 1700 South shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday and tried to steal two laptops.

The residents were home, and they confronted the suspect, who dropped the laptops and fled. Ryan Sanders of the Salt Lake City Police Department said the man could be dangerous.

“He had a 9-inch knife and so that’s something you definitely need to be careful about and be safe, make sure your doors are always locked,” he said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s. He was wearing a white shirt with black writing on it. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the incident is encouraged to call police at 801-799-3000.
