SANDY, Utah - A Ford Escape crashed through the front door of a dry cleaning business in Sandy Thursday morning.
It happened at 7:35 at Trailside Dry Cleaning, 10669 South State Street.
Sgt. Jon Arnold, Sandy PD, said a customer pulled into a parking space directly in front of the business and apparently hit the gas pedal by accident.
"They were there to pick up their laundry. That's what they were coming for and decided to make it a drive through," Arnold said.
The Escape went all the way inside the building, stopping just in front of Alyssa Brimely, the store's clerk. Brimely says she'd just finished up an order when the car came crashing through the storefront.
"There's glass everywhere. The whole window pane was on top of the car when it was stopped. Just destruction basically," Brimely said. "It was crazy I was like shaking after. Ahh. I probably just sat there and screamed while he was driving through."
Fortunately no one was injured, but Arnold is warning drivers to pay attention.
"Pay attention to what you are doing be aware of what you are doing. Sometimes we get casual in our driving," Arnold said. "Hopefully things like this don't occur."
Crews were in on Thursday morning to start repairs, and customers can still get into the store to get their dry cleaning.
