BRIGHAM CITY — Brigham City police said a member of the City Council contacted them after Mayor Dennis Fife allegedly assaulted her.
The alleged incident happened after a heated discussion in a Box Elder County Commission meeting.
Councilwoman Ruth Jensen reported that Fife grabbed her by the arm and held her in place while yelling at her, according to a press release from the Brigham City Police Department.
An investigation will be conducted by an outside police agency with legal review by an independent law firm.
