SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Council overrode Mayor Ralph Becker’s veto of its budget that includes a proposed property tax increase.
Becker disagreed with the increase and vetoed it on Thursday, but on Friday, the City Council voted 5-2 to override the veto.
There will be two public hearings, one on July 9 and one in August, before the council votes to enact it.
The increase would garner an estimated $8 million for the city.
