SALT LAKE CITY – Police arrested a man who is accused of trying to kidnap a child on Monday.
Sgt. Gary Keller of the South Salt Lake Police Department said Robert Kloer allegedly approached four children as young as 3-years-old as they were playing outside.
He said Kloer attempted to play with the children Monday evening, but the children’s mother told him to leave them alone. The mother called police to report the incident.
Officers said Kloer returned later and grabbed the hand of an 8-year-old boy, but the other children pulled the boy away from Kloer.
An 11-year-old called her father on a cell phone, and he came outside as police, responding to the earlier call, were arresting Kloer, who then allegedly made threats against the father.
Kloer was charged with attempted child abduction, simple assault and threatening life.
