WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Roads were closed and residents were without power after a semi took down at least seven power poles on Fridya morning.

The driver was leaving the Driver License Division of the DMV in West Valley City when he caught a power line without realizing it. He kept driving, tearing more lines down.

Eastbound and westbound lanes were closed on 4700 South between 2700 West and 3200 West and the DMV building was closed for the rest of the day because the power was out.

The driver was sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.
