SALT LAKE CITY – Fifty rounds of .22 caliber ammunition was found inside a passenger’s carry-on bag at Salt Lake International Airport Wednesday.

The man was headed to Sacramento, California. He surrendered the ammunition to TSA officers and was cleared to continue on his flight.

TSA can hand out penalties to anyone who brings restricted items on their carry-on luggage, up to $7,500. Firearms and ammunition can be transported in checked baggage if the traveler declares them.
