SALT LAKE CITY — “Big Guy,” a blind California sea lion who moved to Hogle Zoo last year, has died.
The sea lion had urogenital cancer, which zookeepers say is common in sea lions.
Zookeepers noticed a change in Big Guy’s behavior on July 4. He died on July 8.
“Big Guy was a favorite among keepers and visitors. His slow circular swim and gentle spirit will be missed,” said a posting on the zoo’s Facebook page.
