COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS -- The babysitter of a boy who was found unattended in Cottonwood Heights Tuesday morning contacted police after seeing the boy's picture on a newscast.

The boy was found by a passerby around 7:30 at 2072 E Fort Union Blvd. Three hours later, police still hadn't received any reports of a missing child.

FOX 13 News and other news media outlets published and broadcast a picture of the boy in an effort to help police find his parents.

The boy's babysitter saw that picture on a noon newscast and contacted police.

"Really can't make this up," said a related posting on the Cottonwood Heights Police Department's twitter account.
