SALT LAKE CITY -- A fire at a green waste mulch pit reignited late Tuesday, hours after firefighters thought they had extinguished a two-alarm blaze in the same spot.
Salt Lake City Fire Battalion Chief Ron Fife told FOX 13 that strong winds kicked up the blaze on Tuesday. Embers from a fire that ignited Monday night carried to a new area of the green waste yard where it sparked.
By 10 p.m. Tuesday, the fire had been extinguished again. Fife said they would continue to watch it, but worried that it could spark up again in the coming days.
The fire is believed to have been sparked by lightning, Fife said.
