SUMMIT COUNTY — Two women were killed after two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision Saturday on I-80 near mile post 170.
Utah Highway Patrol officials said a white Mazda sedan was heading eastbound on I-80 when the driver crossed over into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons. The car collided with a blue Mercury SUV traveling west. The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m.
UHP officials 29-year-old Kallie Nelson, who was driving the Mazda, was killed in the accident. The driver of the other vehicle, 65-year-old Judith Nethercott, was also killed. Both victims died at the scene. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
The westbound lanes were closed for several hours.
