SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – South Salt Lake Police are asking for the public’s help identifying and finding a pair of robbery suspects who terrorized a local business owner.
The pair struck in broad daylight, and they assaulted the victim while emptying her cash register.
Police said the crime occurred at a store called X-Zone Clothing, and they said the suspects had a detailed plan for the crime and their getaway.
Gary Keller, South Salt Lake Police Department, described the suspects.
"We had two suspects: a dark-skinned male, a light-skinned white female," he said.
Both suspects were wearing what appear to be dreadlock wig disguises. Video released by police show the man pointing a gun and demanding cash. Jin Park was at the register, and in the video you can see her try to jump over the counter to escape.
Park said that was when the female suspect blocked her escape and assaulted her. The suspect dragged her around by her hair.
The victim’s daughter, Elizabeth, said the woman assaulted her mother.
"So she started hitting my mom, and then while that was happening the male was taking money out of the cash register,” she said.
Elizabeth, 17, said her parents work extremely hard at the two clothing stores they own. She teared up as she recalled the incident, and she said she hopes police capture the suspect.
"I do hope they get caught and apologize to my mom, and if they do need money they should work hard for it like my mom does," she said.
Police said the suspects fled in a white getaway car that had one or possibly two others inside. Anyone with information about the crime or the suspects is encouraged to contact police at 801-840-4000.
