PROVO, Utah - A Provo garage was destroyed in a fire, causing $100,000 in damages and destroying wedding decorations and attire.

The fire started early Friday morning at a home at 2803 West and 880 North in Provo. The family smelled smoke and called fire officials, who arrived on scene and put the fire out in about fifteen minutes.

Provo Fire Captain Zeth Turner says that considering the size and heat of the fire, he's surprised the house is still standing.

"For the damage that's been done and how much the garage is burned up I'm pretty impressed. When we arrived, flames were coming through the roof," Turner said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Homeowner Connie Law says that even hours after the fire was put out, she's still in disbelief.

"Total denial. My husband is a hyper-vigilant and the first thing I thought when he yelled fire is, 'Uh, uh,'" Law said.

Everyone in the house got out safely and the house is still standing, but Law says losing what was in the garage is a tragedy.

"Getting ready for a wedding. We spent the week getting the yard ready for a reception. All the decorations are in the garage," Law said. "I don't know what we're going to do. We had all this light rigging set up now for the wedding in the backyard that probably won't happen. I don't know. Maybe it will, maybe we'll pull it off."

The couple also lost some historical items, including documents from the 1800s.
