VEYO, Utah — A Southern Utah wildfire was 100 percent contained Saturday evening.
Firefighters said rainfall in the area helped combat the blaze, and they said it was 100 percent contained as of about 7 p.m. Saturday.
The Cinder Pit Fire ignited Thursday due to a lightning strike near the city of Veyo. Initial estimates put the size at between 30 and 50 acres. But Friday, reconnaissance discovered the fire had quickly grown to 439 acres.
