HERRIMAN, Utah – A couple of years ago FOX 13 News brought viewers the story of the “Up” house in Herriman, and now the replica of the house from the movie “Up” is home to a family who loves to live the magic of movies in their everyday lives.
Homeowners Clint and Lynette Hamblin said they have seen the movie “Up” at least 1,000 times.
"It's definitely one of my favorite movies of all time,” Clint Hamblin said. “I honestly believe it deserved an Oscar for best picture.”
The house wasn’t for sale when the Hamblin’s made an offer, and they had to work hard to convince the builder to sell to them, as the builders wanted to find the right family for the replica home.
“It was a magical process, buying this house,” Lynette Hamblin said.
The Hamblin’s said they often have people come to see the home, especially on the weekends. She said they generally don’t offer tours, but they have made exceptions. They recently let a retirement community come through for a tour.
“We noticed the shuttle bus drive by a few times,” Clint Hamblin said. “We talked to each other and said it would be a lot of fun for them to come in and meet them. It was so cool to see that they were making a field trip out of it.”
Dorothy Rock, 87, said she was glad she was able to see the home.
“When we saw the movie and they told us that we could come here, I thought ‘Oh, that will be a fun thing; it's like a dream come true,’” she said.
