Utah’s ugliest dog terminally ill, crossing items off bucket list

SALT LAKE CITY – Creature was crowned as Utah’s ugliest dog last year, and the canine has now been diagnosed with an incurable cancer.

Creature is a Mexican hairless dog who has won awards for her unruly fur and pearly tusks.

To honor Creature, her owners have created a bucket list of things they want her to do before she dies, and on Saturday the Humane Society of Utah helped cross a few items off that list.

The Humane Society helped host their first ever doggy-date night and a movie on the lawn, which was, of course, “Homeward Bound.”

Jamie Usry, development director for Humane Society of Utah, said there are about a dozen items on the bucket list.

“A few things on creature's bucket list was a day at the beach, which has already been fulfilled,” Usry said. “She wanted to meet Betty White, that has not happened yet but you never know. We're fulfilling her first class convertible ride today. She'll be in a Mustang convertible. Her doggy-date night, doggy-themed movie night we're fulfilling tonight, and she is going to get a pet massage session. She is going to get a pet psychic session, all sorts of things. I think she has about 12 items on her list."

The Humane Society of Utah awarded Creature a special plaque to express appreciation for the influence her life has had on others. Creature's full bucket list can be viewed on her Facebook page.
