WOODS CROSS -- Thousands of dollars in tequila was found stashed in a trailer in Woods Cross Friday, officials said.

Police said 1,229 cases valued at more than $200,000 was discovered in the orange trailer. The majority of the liquor found was tequila as well as other brands of alcohol.

Police said someone stole a truck with a trailer from a company in West Valley City then ditched it in Salt Lake City. The booze was hidden in Woods Cross sometime before abandoning the vehicle.

Detectives were able to track down the vehicle the same day because of a GPS system in the stolen truck.

The suspects have not been found but they could face felony charges including intent to distribute, stolen property and theft.

Police said the people involved were probably not amateurs. The suspects are believed to be from out of state taking the investigation across state lines.
