PROVO — A new panhandling ordinance passed unanimously in Provo Tuesday night.
The ordinance makes it illegal to give a homeless person money out of a car window if the vehicle is not parked.
The new law focuses on safety, said Provo mayor John Curtis.
The Provo council passed a law last year that prohibited panhandlers from stepping into traffic to collect cash.
The new ordinance will go into effect immediately.
