Shark Week starts at Living Planet Aquarium

Posted

SANDY, Utah – The Living Planet Aquarium is kicking off their Shark Week Sunday, and the aquarium will be focusing on the feared ocean predators all week long.

The week aims to teach visitors to the aquarium about the different kinds of sharks and to debunk myths about sharks.

Activities will include shark art projects, puppet shows, a prehistoric shark dig, and a live animal show titled “Shark Trek: Journey Into Sharkness.”

Austin Strebbel, visitor experience coordinator at Living Planet Aquarium, said they have a variety of sharks.

“We have a whole bunch of sharks in our shark tank,” he said. “We have gray reef sharks, and we have black tip reef sharks—those sharks are juveniles that we have right now. They'll grow to be 6 to 10 feet long, depending on the species, and we also have horned sharks which you can touch, those are in the touch pool with our sting rays. So those are pretty cool."
