SALT LAKE CITY — The Food and Drug Administration has cited a pharmacy in Salt Lake City for unsafe practices.
The University Pharmacy, located at 1320 East 200 South, was visited by FDA inspectors in February.
Officials said the pharmacy was cited because work areas were dirty and not sanitized. It was reported that on at least one occasion a technician did not wear sterile gloves while handling drugs.
FDA officials also said drugs were not tested thoroughly enough for safety or contamination, and they said there weren’t enough safeguards in place to make sure drugs weren’t mixed up.
