Fire crews responded to a bus engulfed in flames off Interstate 15 southbound near exit 12300 South Sunday afternoon.

Remi Barron, Utah Transit Authority spokesman, said the bus was not carrying passengers and that a tire blew out.

Capt. Brady Vodry, Unified Fire Authority, said the driver was pulling off an I-15 southbound ramp when she heard a pop. She drove another 100 feet until she saw smoke coming out of the back of the bus.

“She was just starting a route, and as soon as she got out of the bus, she saw flames coming out from underneath, called 911 and we got here,” Vodry said.

Barron said the bus is repairable. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, and FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
