Firms selected to aid John Swallow investigation

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY -- As the investigation continues into the allegations against Utah Attorney General John Swallow, two investigative firms have been selected to help.

The Mintz Group of New York will lead the investigative team that includes Lindquist and Associates from Salt Lake City.

House Special Investigative Committee Chairman Jim Dunnigan said the pairing of these two firms gives a well-rounded team that has both experience with complex investigations as well as a local knowledge. He told FOX 13 News this team is focused specifically on the public trust and whether or not it has been violated by Swallow.

Swallow is accused of brokering a bribe as well as campaign funding improprieties, among other things: accusations that have many Utahns wanting him out of office. Dunnigan tells FOX 13 News that this team's priority moving forward is to be thorough as they dig for the truth.

"We are going to determine the facts and have a thorough and fair investigation and look in the allegation, the facts, and then we'll make a report back to the full House and to the citizens of Utah what the facts are, and they can decide what to do with it after that,” he said.

Dunnigan said he doesn't know - at this point - how much money this investigation will cost. He said the financial aspect will depend on how long the investigation will take. Dunnigan said this investigation has no set deadline so this investigative team will take the time needed to do a thorough job.
