STANSBURY PARK, Utah -- A 22-month-old child was critically injured Tuesday morning when she was run over by a minivan in the driveway of a Stansbury Park residence.
It happened near 200 E Cherbourg Ln. when the toddler's mother was dropping off one of her children for a play date.
"After she dropped the child off, they were all loading back into the car. She walked to the back of the van to talk to some other people that were here," said Sgt. Shandy Lewis, Tooele County Sheriff's Office.
Meanwhile, the toddler was sitting in the front seat, and the 5-year-old was sitting in the back.
"Her 5-year-old was able to get up to the front of the van somehow and manipulate the gear shift and knocked it out of park, causing the [toddler] to roll out of the door, and the car ran over her," Lewis said.
The toddler was taken by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center.
