SALT LAKE CITY — About 400 General Electric employees and their families took a break from their normal duties Wednesday to spend the day doing service.
The workforce of volunteers engaged in several painting, landscaping and beautification projects throughout South Salt Lake on their annual day of service.
Volunteers said they look forward to the annual event because it offers a chance to get out of the office and get a change of scenery.
David Staffanson, human resources manager of GE Healthcare Surgery, said it’s also an opportunity to be a good neighbor.
“It’s really our way to give back,” he said. “It’s the community that we live in, that we work in. Community’s been great for us, and we wanted to give a small part back.”
The one-day project was completed Wednesday so final preparations can be done in time for public use of the facilities Monday.
