Funeral services for fallen Draper Police Sgt. Derek Johnson will begin at 11 a.m. Friday morning at the Maverik Center.
The funeral procession will start at the Maverik Center, travel on I-215 then go south on I-15. From there it will go east on 12300 South and the burial will be at the Larkin Sunset Mortuary at 1950 East and 10600 South.
City officials would like to remind residents of road closures that will be happening in the area during the funeral services.
Starting at 8:30 a.m. until the last procession car has left the Maverik Center, several roads in the area will be closed. Decker Lake Drive (2200 West), both north and south, from 3100 South to in front of the Maverik Center will be closed to accommodate funeral attendees.
From 9 to 9:30 a.m., 3500 South between 2200 and 2700 West will be closed to all traffic so Unified Fire Authority can set up a flag bridge over 3500 South.
The funeral procession will not travel at freeway speeds on I-215 and I-15.
Freeway ramps will be closed along the funeral route including 3500 South and 12300 South. Traffic already on the freeway will be able to pass on the left, but access to ramps will be significantly restricted by the flow of the funeral procession.
Internment will be at the Larkin Sunset Mortuary starting around 2 p.m.
City officials said 1700 East from 12300 South to 10600 South will be closed during the procession. 10600 South east from 1700 East to 2000 East will be closed during the procession to the end of graveside services.
Officers want to remind travelers that during the procession there will be a steady stream of traffic on I-215 and I-15, and they should avoid the area if at all possible.
