SALT LAKE CITY — Utah ranked 49th in the nation and received an F in a report by the Center of American Progress called “The State of Women in America.”
Researchers catalogued data regarding economic security, leadership and health for the report, which was described as “a 50-state analysis of how women are faring across the nation.”
Utah was ranked 34th in the nation for health (D grade), 43rd in the nation for economic security (F grade) and 50th for leadership (F grade).
“While women have come a long way over the past century, this report serves as a stark reminder that much remains to be done in order to achieve greater freedom,
fairness, and equality for all. As we continue on the path to reaching this goal, we must keep in mind that we are not just improving the lives of women, but we are also improving the lives of their families and their children. Women and their families deserve a fair shot so that they can get ahead and not just get by,” the report said.
