MAGNA, Utah – A church in Magna has picked up the pieces after vandals broke into their chapel and destroyed or stole several items, and on Sunday night they held a special fund-raising dinner.
The Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church has been vandalized five times in the last four years, most recently in August.
Church goers said the suspects destroyed art and other items, stole things and made a mess. But Sunday night the church held their annual spaghetti dinner, and Father Javier Virgen said the congregation will move forward. He said they have received a great deal of support since the break ins occurred.
“When things go wrong and we come together as a family, the friendship and the unity among us is even stronger,” he said.
The church has installed an alarm since the latest break in. Money raised at Sunday’s event will be used to help repair the church.
