David Abrams was a press officer for the U.S. Army, and he was deployed to Iraq in 2006. "Fobbit" is a novel of the Iraq war that uses dark humor to illustrate the ugly and banal truth of a life in a modern-day war zone. The book was recognized as a New York Times Notable Book of 2012.
