Man dies after car crashes, lands upside-down in canal

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A man died Tuesday after he crashed and landed his car upside-down in a canal.

The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. near 6400 W Parkway Blvd.

Officers said the man was driving northbound on 6400 West when he suddenly slowed his car down. They said after driving about 100 yards, the man then slammed on the gas and crashed into a canal.

Emergency responders freed the man from the car and tried to resuscitate him. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
