SALT LAKE CITY -- A former nanny appeared before a judge for the first time, Tuesday, on charges of child abuse while tending two children for a family in Cottonwood Heights.
Traci Omer, 21, allegedly admitted to the abuse of the 1- and 2-year-old children to the parents in a letter.
Omer worked for the couple from February to July. The parents reportedly noticed scratches then bruises on their children. In one case an injury was reportedly covered up with makeup.
Omer originally denied the abuse – then a month after being fired the nanny allegedly wrote a letter admitting to the abuse.
Omer’s attorney, Edward K. Brass, would not say if she denies what happened.
“I was given the police reports this morning and I haven’t had a chance to look them over yet,” Brass said. “Sure it’s a serious charge absolutely, so we’ll see what happens, we’ll take from there.”
Omer was booked in the Salt Lake County Jail on a bail of 50,000. She will appear in court for a bond hearing Thursday.
