LAS VEGAS — A man shot and killed himself on the grounds of the Las Vegas LDS temple Tuesday night, according to police.
Officers said Scott Greer Bybee, 26, of Henderson, Nev. committed suicide around 6:30 p.m. in a courtyard area of the temple located at 827 Temple View Drive.
Police said no other people were injured in the suicide, but the remaining temple sessions were canceled for the evening.
Kristen Howey, a Las Vegas area spokeswoman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, released this statement regarding the incident:
“The incident that occurred at the Las Vegas Nevada Temple on Tuesday evening is tragic, and we are mindful of all those involved, especially family members, who are in our thoughts and prayers.”
