‘Fear Factory’ burglars took hearse for a joyride, stole props

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY -- The owners of the Fear Factory haunted house in Salt Lake City are offering a reward leading to an arrest in connection with a recent robbery.

Evidence of the burglary was discovered Monday, and it is believed to have occurred late Sunday or early Monday morning.

Surveillance video shows two suspects entering the facility and starting up a hearse normally used as a prop during the Halloween season.

The hearse was taken for a joyride on the property, and the suspects apparently tried to crash it through a security gate at one point.

The Fear Factory owners said they found the hearse along the south end of the parking lot.

The suspects are also accused of prying open a garage door and stealing Halloween props and other equipment.

"Even though they were covered up, they were caught on tape, so hopefully somebody maybe recognizes them. Maybe they talked to somebody about what they had done," said Det. Veronica Montoya, Salt Lake City PD.

If caught, the suspects could face a variety of charges, including criminal mischief and burglary.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Salt Lake City Police Department at (801) 799-3000.
