OGDEN -- A 15-year-old boy was reportedly shot in the chest in Ogden Saturday night, police said.

At 7:37 p.m. police responded to a report of a gunshot wound on the corner of the 2600 block of Madison Avenue. When they arrived on scene they found the teenage boy shot and injured on his left forearm.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and was in stable condition as of Sunday evening.

Shelly White lives near the apartment building where the shooting occurred.

“I walked outside, and the whole street was filled with police officers, yellow tape," she said. "It was just crazy, like out of a movie."

The shooting happened near James Madison Elementary School, and resident Damon Ricks said it was a shock to him a shooting could happen so close.

“We've always thought that was a safety buffer for us because we are right next to a grade school, but this happened right next to the grade school,” he said.

Detectives have identified people of interest in the reported shooting and are following up on them, according to a press release from Ogden City Police. No arrests have been made.
