Utah State Parks is hosting a snowmobile open house in January to celebrate Snowmobile Safety Week.

The open house will take place Jan. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Soldier Hollow Club House at Wasatch Mountain State Park.

Youth ages 8 to 15 are invited to take free snowmobile education courses from 9-11 a.m. or noon to 2 p.m., according to a press release from Utah State Parks.  The Utah Avalanche Center staff will also offer a free avalanche safety course from 11 a.m. to noon.

The avalanche safety course is free and open to everyone.

Utah law requires youth ages 8 to 15 to complete a Utah State Parks snowmobile education course before operating on public lands, roads or trails, the release stated.

Snowmobile Safety Week runs from Jan. 18-26. Call 801-538-7246 for more information, or visit ohv.utah.gov.
