(CNN) -- A Pennsylvania meteorologist had a close encounter with the huge sheets of ice washing up in Harrisburg.
Tom Russell was on Harrisburg City Island, reporting on the ice surging out of a river and onto the shore, when he had to retreat.
The ice jams built up on the river after temperatures plunged in the region, see the video above for more.
