Report: ‘ghost ship’ may be filled with cannibal rats, heading to UK shores

A “ghost ship” that is reportedly full of cannibal rats that was set adrift off of the Canadian coast last year may be heading for Britain, and that has some people concerned.

The Telegraph UK reports that the 300-foot Lyubov Orlova has been floating around the North Atlantic, and recent storms have driven the abandoned vessel toward UK shores.

Reports indicate the ship may have become home to hordes of rats, which would have to eat each other in order to survive. The ship is most likely to make landfall on the west coast of Ireland, Scotland or Cornwall.

The Telegraph reports the ship was being towed to be scrapped when a tow line broke, after which the Canadian government ordered another ship to haul the vessel out to sea and cut it loose.

People have been searching for the ship, partly because of its potential scrap value, but the ship’s location remains unknown for now.
