LAYTON, Utah -- A woman is dead after she was hit by a truck in Layton Tuesday.

The woman has been identified as Jessica Jones, 22, from Layton.

According to Layton City Police, Jones was walking southbound on the east side of the intersection of Antelope Drive and Main Street around 6:30 a.m. They said she attempted to cross the intersection and was hit by a truck traveling eastbound. After being hit by the truck, she may have been struck by another vehicle traveling eastbound.

Investigators said it appears Jones was crossing against the light. They said it also appears she was not walking in the crosswalk when she was hit.

Jones was taken to Davis Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Officers said there was no indication that the male driver of the truck was impaired at the time of the accident. They said the driver told officers he did not have time to stop before hitting Jones.

FOX 13 will update this story with the latest details as soon as they become available.
